Yesterday was national coffee day, and I’m assuming there was a LOT of coffee made and consumed, leaving a LOT of coffee grounds behind today. But don’t fear, although not quite as satisfying as a hot cup of joe, these grounds can be used in all sorts of fun and creative ways!
You don’t drink coffee, but still want to get in on all this fun and excitement you say? No worries, most coffee shops, including Starbucks have a used coffee grounds collection bin for the taking, or just ask and they are usually happy to give you some!
I think we could all use a reminder on being prepared, especially after a tornado hit our little town in Utah yesterday which is unheard of! If someone told me on Monday that there would be a tornado on Thursday, I’d tell them that’s absurd! States like Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas are prepared for tornadoes, because it happens, frequently, but it just doesn’t happen here, so we thought. (more…)
I’m not going to lie, I have never changed a furnace filter. I have never even thought about changing my furnace filter. It’s one of those things that in our household, I have always had someone else that has done it and honestly, I had no idea how often or even how to do it.
In property management, we have many multi-complex properties that the tenants don’t have access to the filters so we arrange to have it done based on the owner’s request and recommended maintenance schedule. There are also other properties that the tenants do have access and the owners provide the service as well. Fall is one of our scheduled times to change filters, and I got to thinking, hmmm, if I didn’t have someone else do it, would I know what to do?

If you haven’t heard of “Black Mold” then you probably live in a hole (and are most likely living with mold there too!). In recent years, the media has inundated us with frightening, emotional messages about the dangers of mold, types of mold, remediation of mold, etc. And while I do have some understanding of mold because it is a concern in the Real Estate Industry, it seems that the messages are more mixed than they are clear. So I dug into some more credible sources to see if I could get some answers and found some interesting facts, and helpful tips that I thought I’d share in honor of Mold Awareness Month:
